Pole qualifier

Knowing this would be the last time fishing for a while I decided to jump on it.
Drawing peg 33 I was quite happy.
With dozens of foul hooked fish lost, 3 elastics snapped and 10 rigs trashed it was a mare.

It was really slow to start and after 4 hours I probably had 15lb in the net and lost 12 lumps that were foul hooked.
I was aching fishing the long pole in the wind and was ready to throw in the towel.
Just as I was about to quit I landed a 6 lb carp so thought I would give it another 5 mins.
The long and short of it was the last hour I emptied it across to the island on expander but couldn’t catch down the edge.
Peg 2 is renound for the margins but today they didn’t produce.
Having said that why leave feeding fish!

When Marc Rodger drew the golden peg 2 days on the trot he must surely win on the 2nd attempt especially on peg 25.
Well unfortunately he did not and it made my day. Not because he didn’t win it but it made me feel better after doing exactly the same a couple of months ago.

When Marc Rodger drew the golden peg 32 I was sure he would win it. It’s been solid there for weeks but with the fish still waiting to spawn they weren’t that interested in feeding.
Although he had a respectable 60lb it wasn’t quite enough.

I got talked into fishing today, I wasn’t that bothered really but I’ve only fished once in 2 weeks and made a mess of that.
Today I drew peg 26. I really like those pegs on the railway bank. Not many do and most chunter if they draw on there.
It turned out to be quite a hard match though with a few struggling. Myself, well I can’t complain and with the fish I lost I could have been well into double ton.
Not a bad days fishing and to top it off I managed to bank a 19lb 03oz beauty

The roach were spawning all over the lake on silver which made it difficult on some pegs. The roach attacked every bait that you used and rendered it useless.

With the fish spawning the margins were out of bounds to the anglers.
No one complained at all
It was crazy seeing all those big fish splashing around the anglers nets but it’s better to leave them be and get on with it.
A few nice fish were caught however and Alex McIntyre stole the show with a win and a lovely 14lb 08oz fish only to be beaten by a bigger specimen by graham banard with a 15lber.

The sun was shining and it felt like spring for a change. The fish were sunbathing which made it hard in some areas but some managed a few fish and the weights were respectable. There were a few big fish caught too, Lewis Ringwood managed to catch the biggest one weighed in over the past year, banking at 19lb 01oz, quite some fish.
Well done to Simon Fields on his win and unfortunately Marc Rodger fell in today while netting a fish. I wish it had been on film. lol.

It was lovely first thing but on the all in the weather took a turn for the worse.
From sunshine to hailstones and heavy rain, I’ve had enough of it and can’t wait for the warmer weather
On silver lake Simon fields ran away with it and put together a good net of fish from peg 27 and took the honours.
On the pairs it was Simon and Eddie o Rourke that shared the pot. Well done guys.

The conditions were horrendous today. It felt as if we had gone back a couple of months into winter.
With the strong winds it was almost impossible for some to fish the pole so it was either short or the feeder.
Needless to say the weights struggled in the arctic blast. It was totally white over this morning.
It looked as if the £500 golden peg was going from the second to last peg but steve couldn’t get that one extra fish he needed to overtake Nathan.
