Well that’s a first. Ten out of ten for a fishery and it’s nice to hear the club decided to stage a match here after we used it as a final venue.

No one in the club had fished here before and we could not believe the set up! - wrote match secretary Ron Mitchell on his report.

The café was very clean and tidy, they served a good breakfast and the owner told us we could use the whole lake if we wished. We certainly didn’t argue!

All the pegs had good platforms, there was a lot of room between pegs and the venue itself was immaculate.

Good toilet facilities and even the lawns were neat and trim. This is possibly the best venue we have ever fished. Its faultless.

You can see the owner takes great pride in his fishery.

Having caught silver fish and odd small carp on pole and pellet, Ron Mitchell switched to method feeder and netted a couple of 6lb carp but it was his decision to come close in on meat that produced seven carp to 4lb in the final hour that swung the match his way. Dave Elliott was left to rue a number of fish that took him into a reed bed in the later stages, costing him the match in the process.

Results: 1 R. Mitchell 45-7; 2 D. Elliott 38-2; 3. A. Smith 36-3; 4 P. Shaw 33-10; 5. K Mitchell 22-2; 6 P. Whitney 20-11.
